THCA

THCA, or tetrahydrocannabinolic acid, is a cannabinoid compound found in the cannabis plant. Unlike its more well-known cousin, THC (delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol), THCA is a non-psychoactive precursor to THC. When cannabis is harvested and dried, THCA is the dominant cannabinoid present in the plant. As cannabis is exposed to heat, such as through smoking or vaporization, THCA undergoes a process called decarboxylation, which converts it into THC, the psychoactive compound responsible for the “high” associated with marijuana use.
